NANCY BRICK
by
Grat McClure Crabtree

FADE IN:

EXT. RURAL AREA - DAY
An old fashioned red country school house sits embraced by tall corn fields.

A ten year old NANCY BRICK skips down a dusty dirt road toward it, a young white pit-bull jogging alongside. She is a stocky girl wearing oversized overalls with her brown hair in pigtails.

The dog stops and squats. Nancy's head wips around and she skips behind the dog.

THE DOGS FACE
as he grunts, squinting.

NANCY

It looks like you need more
fiber in your diet, Skipper.

Childish laughter from the cornfield. SKIPPER's ears perk up. He looks at Nancy, who nods. He races off after the source of the laughter.

SCREAMS and thrashings in the cornfield.

They work their way to the right then back to the left. Tugging growls and desperate wimpers. The dog scampers out of the cornfield to strut by Nancy's side, a pantleg in his mouth.

NANCY

Good Dog!

They continue toward the schoolhouse.
